Powderburn 2010 thoughts.

So,
my third powderburn came and went.
It was amazing. God speaks every year, i love it.
The main theme of the weekend was being a pilgrim. By that i mean, not just going on retreats, going to church on Sundays and calling yourself a "christian"
Being a pilgrim means devoting every second of every day to the being that created the universe.

Some point's God has nailed into me this weekend:
1) I am WAY too lazy, in my faith and in the rest of my life.
2) I am called to be in ministry. I'm not sure what that looks like, but whatever it is, it's going to be awesome.
3) I am afraid of the change that God wants to see in my life.
4) I am afraid of what God wants to do in my life.
5) After trying me best to follow Christ for the past 10 years, I am now ready to dive 100% into my faith.

Looking back at this years powderburn, it was mostly about change. Changing myself.

Pre-Burn

I'm leaving for PowderBurn 2010 in a few hours.
I am extremely excited, as this is the yearly snowboard retreat that is always amazing.
PowderBurn is always the trip that God knocks me down hard, and then lifts me up. Always. Every year since i was in 8th grade. I say again, i am Extremely stoked for this. Mountains, Snowboarding, Friends, God.
What more could you ask for?
I shall be back Sunday night, and i'll report on it then :)

Stuck

I Am Lonely; I'm Tired, I'm Lost, I'm Confused, I'm Hurting, I'm Angry, I'm Bitter; I Am Lonely

2009 is over? well, 2010 it is!

So today is the last day of 2009. Wow. This year was..... well, as of right now i'm not sure what this year was. I guess it was pretty excellent. It was a year of learning, thats for sure. Learning how to relate to middle schoolers, learning how to be a role model for kids, learning how to share Jesus with students, learning how to lead worship for students, learning how to be flexible with students, learning how to change plans. I guess overall this was a year of change.

Change:
At the start of 2009, i had my future almost planned out. I was going to finish high school and go to Barclay college in Haviland, Kansas. That was the plan, but halfway through this year, plans changed. This year i was a leader for middle school ministry, and it became my life. I love kids, and i love hanging out with them. As of right now, i think that i want to go into Youth Ministry. Scratch that, i KNOW that i want to go into Youth Ministry. I have no clue what that looks like, but i guess i'll figure that out later!

New Years Resolution?
So i haven't ever done new years resolutions, but i guess since it's a year of change......

  • Get a good camera
  • Get a job
  • Think about college.
Yeah, i know, it's not much of a list, but that's really all i can think of for resolutions.
Here's to 2010!!

thoughts on life, high school, and whatever else i think of

Its been a while since i've posted. Sorry about that, life's gotten pretty hectic in the past few weeks. Lots of stuff going on, lots of things happened, but its been fun. Extremely tiring, but fun nonetheless.

First of all, School started to beat me down pretty hard. My grades started to slip, and for the first time in my entire High School career, I had the drive to actually do something about it. I put in effort in school the last few weeks. This hasn't happened since probably 7th grade. weird.

Christmas Spectacular. Enough Said.
Just kidding. Yes, the annual 4C's Christmas Spectacular is This Sunday, and i've been preparing for it pretty much nonstop this month and the better part of November. Christmas is my favorite time of year, and Christmas Spectacular is definitely a highlight of the year. This year i'm in three major acts, and I'm super stoked about it. It's going to be super funny. You may laugh, you may cry, you may even wanna give me money :) i doubt it though.
This Sunday, December 13th. 7:00 PM. @4C's, Be there!

Here are my last thoughts of this blog:
Chicks.
A few of my friends have shown me their essays on how to keep guys away and how to stay single. These essays were written for school, and have made me think quite a bit. The main point of them was that girls don't need guys, and they especially don't want guys that treat them badly. Time and time again i find myself talking with my friends of the opposite gender, telling them that guys are awful. And we are. Most guys aren't worth anything, but there are a few good guys left out there. I want to be one of them, i try again and again to be the kind of guy that a girl would want to be with. Not one of the "popular" guys, not one of the "playa's" or anything like that. I just want to be the kind of guy that a girl can see herself with. maybe even for a long time. I have yet to find this girl, and who knows, i may never find her, but for now, i strive to be a guy that girls can look at as the type of guy that they want to be with. don't call me a role model, because i'm only human and i fail, hard sometimes, but i try, and thats the best i can give.

Full of Thanks....... and food!

So Thanksgiving this year came with a lot of food, a lot of fun, and a lot of thinking, Thinking about how blessed and how amazing my life is.  As i was sitting in my hot tub after a long day of snowboarding, i thought to myself "lets make a list of things i'm thankful for" so here it is, my list of thankfulness.

 I Am Thankful For:
  • Great Parents
  • Awesome Siblings that i can look up to
  • A roof above my head
  • Plenty of Food :)
  • Music
  • Amazing Friends
  • A church that has been my home for the better part of my life, 4C's
This is just what i can think of off the top of my head, but I can't even begin to explain how blessed my life is. I am thankful for everyone and everything in my life

(insert emoticon here)

So today i was talking with a friend that i usually don't have serious talks with, and during that talk i realized something. You need emotions. This person is someone who usually doesn't show that many emotions, and seeing emotion from that person was the coolest thing ever. It really made me realize the importance of emotions. You actually have to give in to your emotions to realize that you are lonely, sad, happy etc. Apathy is the lack of emotion, and that in turn will eat away at your innermost being. Think of life as a roller coaster. Why would you ride a roller coaster that goes straight in a line when there is one right next to it that will take you on a crazy up and down thrill ride. It takes a personal choice. Don't try and hide your emotions like i have done for so long. Every human being has emotions, give in to them, but don't let them control you. Take joy in the great things in life. "Stop and smell the roses" sounds so cliché, but it is so true. take some time to just sit down, relax, and realize how great life is!
